When you open a QuickBooks account it is essential to connect your bank accounts to have an up to date, accurate depiction of your expenses and income. To link your bank and credit card accounts, follow the prompts below.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: First, login to QuickBooks.
Step 2: Next, select “Banking” from the side menu.
Step 3: Select “Link Account” from the right-hand side of the screen.
Step 4: Search for your bank by entering your bank name or the bank URL and select it from the list.
Step 5: Next enter your User Name and Password for your bank account(s). Then Select “Continue.”
Step 6: It is likely at this point that you will need to receive a code sent to the phone number on file for your bank account for added security. Enter the Code and select “continue.”
Step 7: Select from the list of your accounts the bank account(s) that you would like to add into your QuickBooks account.
Step 8: When you select the account, QuickBooks will ask you to select an account type.
For Checking Accounts
- Select “Add New”
- Select “Bank” from the “Account Type” dropdown menu
- Select “Checking” from the dropdown menu labeled “Detail Type”
- Create a Name for your account. (suggestion: name the account the name of the bank and the last four digits of the account number)
- Select “Save and Close”
For Credit Card Accounts
- Select “Add New”
- Select “Credit Card” from the “Account Type” dropdown menu;
- Select “Credit Card” from the dropdown menu labeled “Detail Type”
- Create a Name for your account. (suggestion: name the account the name of the bank, “credit card,” and the last four digits of the account number)
- Select “Save and Close”
Step 9: A dropdown menu will appear where you can select the start date of when you would like QuickBooks to pull transactions from. Choose your start date and then select “connect.”
Step 10: Your account(s) will now appear on the banking page as individual cards which you can select to see transactions as they come in.
Note: You can edit your account and bank login information at any time by selecting the pencil icon at the top right of the card.
